An Interesting Night Indeed

A couple of nights ago I attended an event that former PM, Paul Martin was the guest speaker. I had the opportunity to chat with Robert-Falcon Ouellette, Paul Martin, Dan Vandal, and the MLP leader, Rana Bokhari.

RFO is going to win his Federal election bid because he’s exactly what the people in his riding need, and he represents a shift in politics. Mark my words; he’ll win. Paul Martin was humble and clearly not a computer guy. Dan Vandal was a nice guy, and seemed highly intelligent. The real star of the evening was Rana though. As the leader of the Manitoba Liberal Party she has a gigantic task in front of her, but you wouldn’t know it. She worked the room with vigour and despite being probably the smallest person in the room, spoke as if she were 10 feet tall. I was very impressed with how political she could be without being overly political in her approach. She is for sure someone to watch for.

My major takeaway from the evening is that it would seem the Liberals are back in a big way. Their ideas are fresh, the approach is interesting (in a non-condescending way), and they seem to be the party adapting the quickest to the new way of things.

All-in-all, I’d say the night proved that it’s not politics as usual amongst the new Liberals.
